'For One Night Only' Project

A sell out performance that was the catalyst for a new Personal Development Programme

Identities collaborated with Doncaster Little Theatre in July 2010 for a performance skills and confidence building project that culminated in a sell out performance, ‘For One Night Only – It’s All About Me’ at the theatre on the 14th October 2010.
The team from Identities wanted to show the difference they were making to women who were attending their programmes and activities.   This was just an idea until Michelle Swann; the managing director of Identities met Jan Townend, the chair of the Little Theatre, at a Learning Circle meeting hosted by Lynda Swinden and Key Fund.  The collaboration of personal development and performance was created.
The theatre secured Big Lottery Funding this year, which allowed Jan Townend, Kevin Spence and Chris Holt to provide workshop sessions to a group from Identities to develop scenes, learn acting skills and develop an idea and theme into a full blown performance.
The delivery team and some of the beneficiaries of Identities’ services made up the cast of eleven. Clare Hodgson who came to Identities to attend a confidence building programme took the lead role and led the show in her portrayal of Eve, a fictional character who found herself lost and low in confidence and self belief, eventually turning her life around.

Coalfield’s Regeneration Trust granted Identities funding to allow Northlight CIC to make a short film of Identities and its services, which is available to view on the website and on Identities own You Tube channel.
The performance has been an amazing journey for all who were a part of it. So much so that Identities is recreating the journey again for others and is currently developing a new and exciting programme that will culminate in an exciting performance each year.
Claire Hodgson and Lisa Butterworth, both beneficiaries of Identities’ services are to take new leading roles as project workers on the new project.
